Does Physical Therapy Hurt?

Does Physical Therapy Hurt?

The short answer. No, it should not be painful.

Contrary to popular belief PT does not stand for pain and torture. At Tailor-Made physical therapy our team evaluates your individual needs to create a dynamic and evidence-based plan that will help restore mobility to your life. If ever, your pain increases or new pains appear while preforming exercises with us or at home, immediately let our therapists know so they can adjust and develop a new plan better suited for you.

Our team are experts in movement and muscle skeletal function, not in pain provoking. Your pain should never jump from a two out of ten to a full ten. Tailor-Made’s goal is to rehabilitate and over preform for our clients. We want to help you reach all your health and fitness goals from chasing the kids around the house, to climbing mountains with as little pain as possible during the process.

Many miracles take place during physical therapy, but our physical therapists are not magicians. You will earn yourself many victories during the treatment process. The strength building exercises often will cause patients fatigue and soreness. Do not worry, this is to be expected. While it may feel uncomfortable, muscle soreness is a great indicator of progress being made in your sessions and is part of the process of building and repairing muscles.

Soreness and fatigue are not to be confused with pain. Pain should come immediately upon an action in a sharp and deep feeling. Soreness is a tight, tired feeling that improves throughout activity, where pain only increases more during the activity.

If you are struggling with pain and discomfort from accidents, daily life, or other injuries. Do not let rumors of pain and torture at physical therapy stop you from getting the help you deserve.
